Massage Professionals Update

Earn credits through articles you've already read in our Massage Professionals Update e-newsletter.

Learn how massage therapy can assist in common sports injuries. Combining four articles written especially for the Institute's Massage Professionals Update E-newsletter, this brief program will provide insights into:

  • Causes, solutions and sports massage techniques for achilles tendonitis.
  • The proven efficacy of petrissage for improving athletic performance and reducing muscle fatigue.
  • Massage for anterior shin splints.
  • Iliotibial Band Syndrome.

In the Common Sports Injuries program we've combined four articles written especially for the Institute's Massage Professionals Update. These four articles include:

  • Solutions and Sports Massage Techniques for Achilles Tendonitis - Learn about ten commonly advised solutions you can discuss with clients suffering from acute or chronic Achilles tendonitis. Also, find out two specific sports massage techniques that can help repair this potentially crippling condition.
  • Petrissage Proven Effective for Athletes - Although recognition of sports massage has been steadily growing, conclusive evidence of its benefits has been scant. However, a scientific contribution proves a popular sports massage technique is effective in enhancing an athlete's performance and reducing muscle fatigue.
  • Massage for Anterior Shin Splints - Shin splints can result from training too hard, too fast, sidelining any athlete. When performed appropriately, massage therapy can prevent anterior shin splints from recurring all season long.
  • A Summary of Iliotibial Band Syndrome for Bodyworkers - Discover why massage therapists who incorporate aspects of neuromuscular therapy, myofascial release and sports massage into a massage session can help their clients suffering with runner's knee.

You can either read the articles by clicking on any of the titles above or upon enrollment you'll be able to access these articles and your online test through your online course account.
