Florida Massage Therapy
Continuing Education Requirements
Massage therapy license requirements vary from state to state, and the laws are constantly changing. It's our current understanding that, in Florida, 24 massage therapy continuing education credits plus at least 1 credit in a course on HIV/AIDS, are required every 2 years for license renewal by August 31st of each odd-numbered year.
The Institute for Integrative Healthcare Studies is an Approved Provider for the Florida Board of Massage (#50-1017) and all of our courses have been approved as well.
In addition to a continuing education course covering HIV/AIDs, the remaining 24 hours must include:
- At least 2 hours in Professional Ethics, which may be taken through home study programs
- At least 2 hours in the prevention of Medical Errors, which may be taken through home study programs
- At least 2 hours in Florida Laws and Rules, which may be taken through home study programs
- At least 12 hours of live training through courses relevant to massage therapy techniques, history of massage, anatomy and physiology, kinesiology and/or pathology
- The remaining hours can be in topics of your choice, which may be taken through our home study programs
The Institute for Integrative Healthcare Studies provides two comprehensive packages which include the required HIV/AIDS, Ethics, Medical Errors and Florida Laws and Rules courses. (For more information about these packages, simply click on the titles below.)
Florida Mandatory Programs Set (#1)
Florida Mandatory Programs Set (#2)
These comprehensive packages provide a total of 8 continuing education hours which can be applied to your Florida license renewal. If you complete one of these packages you will still need 17 continuing education hours. Since 12 of these hours must be completed through live training, the remaining 5 hours can be earned through home study.
