Virginia Massage Therapy

Continuing Education Requirements

Massage therapy license requirements vary from state to state, and the laws are constantly changing. It's our current understanding that, in Virginia, 24 hours of massage therapy continuing education credits are required, including at least 1 hour of professional ethics, every 2 years OR the therapist must hold a current certification from the NCBTMB.

It is also our understanding that the Virginia Board of Massage will accept our programs to fulfill these 24 hours of continuing education because the Institute for Integrative Healthcare Studies is approved by the NCBTMB as a continuing education Approved Provider (#049478-00). The only exception would be programs on animal massage, which the Board will not accept.

If you would like to verify this information, or have further questions regarding your massage therapy continuing education requirements, we suggest contacting the Virginia Board of Massage directly. The telephone number for the Virginia Board is 804-367-4400 or visit their website at www.dhp.virginia.gov.

Remember, the Institute for Integrative Healthcare Studies is approved by the NCBTMB as a continuing education Approved Provider (#049478-00). All of our continuing education programs can be used for your National Certification renewal.

You may also use our credits for other organizations you belong to such as the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) or Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP).
